Full marks for trying, you two, but I think the instructions you used must have missed out the bit about needing a tail to stabilise it. We used to use a length of string with sheets of rolled up newspaper knotted into it every 6″ or so. Though that would have been a bit heavy for your relatively small kite.
Perhaps we can do better!
I wish I hadn’t been in such a cranky mood that day, it could have been fun otherwise!
